This ZeroJapan cup is styled on a traditional tea ceremony cup. The thick stoneware provides insulation, the unglazed base gracefully ages with use, and the hand-applied glaze adds a sophisticated touch. The thinner lip makes them suitable for delicate hot beverages, such as specialist teas, or other beverages, such as hot chocolate. Whereas traditional Raku glazes have charcoal added to emphasise the ‘Crackle’ style, Kikko does not, so presents a more Crystalline or cracked ice effect, offering depth to the crackle effect, almost 3 dimensional.
