Ripe Pu-erh Cha Gao ( Tea Resin)

Cha Gao (茶膏). Once reserved only for emperors and high-ranking officials, represents the ultimate pursuit of tea essence.

While the earliest forms of Cha Gao appeared as early as the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), the meticulous process for making the more familiar form was truly perfected during the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911 AD).

Cha Gao literally translated means tea paste. However, the substance is in reality a small cube of tea resin, which dissolves in hot water.

This speciality of Yunnan province uses a technique to take the liquid from the tea leaves and then solidify the liquid into shapes that can easily be dissolved in water to make tea.

Ripe Pu-erh Cha Gao is produced by using traditional Pu-erh tea and slow boiling it to extract the full flavour and create a wonderfully rich tea resin.

These mini 1 gram bricks are individually wrapped and perfect for making tea on the go.

Preparing Cha Gao (tea resin) is simple and adaptable. A small piece of resin can be dissolved in hot water for immediate enjoyment or stirred into cool or cold water for a refreshing alternative. No rinsing, straining, or special tools are required.

Instructions:
Step 1. Unwrap tea resin from foil and place 1 piece in your mug.
Step 2. Add 8–12 oz hot water (195–205°F), stir gently, dissolve completely or until desired potency is reached.
Tip: Use less water for stronger tea; more water for lighter tea. Enjoy hot & cold.
